About this deal

This will help individuals to better cope with the physical and emotional strains that fatherhood can place on individuals and relationships. It is designed to reduce your anxieties, create a strong bond and healthy attachment with your baby, build stronger family relationships and recognise when you or your partner might need to get help for your mental health.

Cllr Lorraine Beardmore, cabinet member for culture, leisure and public health said: “I am thrilled that the city council has been able to work with the team at DadPad to launch this fantastic free app in Stoke-on-Trent.Developed with the NHS, DadPad gives new dads and dads-to-be the knowledge and skills needed to gain confidence and give their baby the best start in life. As babies don’t come with a set of instructions, they told us they wanted important information on how to care for their baby and what to expect as a first-time dad. It is packed with relevant information, as well as details on local support groups and service providers. Devon County Council is responsible for the writing, publishing and updating of the content on this page.

We listened to what dads, their partners and professionals asked for and combined it all in this new DadPad for dads-to-be. Crucially, the app also provides dads with guidance on how to support and seek help (when needed) for their partners and themselves as they adjust to their new roles, and cope with the physical and emotional strains that this can place on individuals and relationships. I was a bit scared when we found out we were having a baby, obviously happy, but a bit scared and in the beginning I was a bit clueless. This will give you time to put your pack to good use and we’re sure you’ll have plenty to keep you busy before then! Outside of the service working hours, you’ll receive a message back to inform you that your text will be responded to once the line reopens. This 36 pages long guide is incredibly practical, with wipe-clean pages full of easy-to-use, supportive advice. The Dadpad® gives dads-to-be the knowledge and practical skills necessary to support themselves and their partner, so that babies get the best possible start in life. Rowena Chilton, Head of Midwifery at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, said: 'It’s fantastic news that DadPad has launched across our maternity services.
